Join in and pledge to take up the National Home Improvement Month challenge
of refurbishing one room this April to ensure you love the home that you live in

Only a minority ‘heart’ their home

Only 33% of Brits actually feel content for their home. Higher home-loving scores were posted by those who are married (37%) and also by the over 55s (43%) with single, those in a relationship and younger people typically feeling less loved-up about their living quarters.

What motivates you to do it?

Comfort is the strongest motivator when it comes to making home improvements (41%), with others citing a need to update style (31%), improve the value (18%), improving safety (11%) increase energy efficiency (12%) and prepare for a new baby (2%). Men are more motivated by improving the value of the home (20% v 16%) and to please their partner (20% v 7%).

Home is where the Smart is

Control heating through an app (30%), lights (25%), wireless charging (23%), door answering app (19%). Less popular are self-watering plants (8%), robot lawn mowers (7%), motion-sensor rubbish bins (7%) and smart mirrors (4%) and perhaps the idea of these is just too much because 20% don't want to add any tech at all.
